WORCESTER, Mass., Sept. 10, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — Access Fixtures is now offering accurate calculations specifying the true metal halide equivalency of LED luminaires. For years customers knew which metal halide lamp wattage they required to meet the light levels they needed. With LEDs, customers do not know which LED wattage to order, as the light output is not directly correlated to the light output of a luminaire with a Metal Halide lamp. Providing accurate lumen equivalency data makes it easier for customers to understand the light output that an LED luminaire will achieve in comparison to HID fixtures. All calculations are based on a number of metrics including luminaire efficacy and Metal Halide lamp mean lumen output.
“Listing an LED’s equivalence enables architects, property managers and electrical contractors to make a knowledgeable decision when choosing which LED luminaire to specify or purchase,” said Access Fixtures CEO, Steven Rothschild. He continued, “Guesswork is eliminated. This provides customers accurate information regarding the light output of the fixtures.”
Access Fixtures’ LED luminaires are listed with true metal halide equivalencies based on accurate calculations. Calculations are determined by considering the factors that affect light output. To learn about how LED luminaire equivalencies are calculated, click here.
Many LED luminaires have an average rated life of 50,000 hours. They require little to no maintenance, provide high CRI, and provide superior energy efficiency. For example, Access Fixtures 48 watt LED flood light and 40 watt LED wall pack both have the lumen equivalence as a 100 watt metal halide. Both LED luminaires provide the same light output as a 100w MH fixture and reduce energy use by over 50%.
